Three days ago on America’s Got Talent, a vibrant 30-year-old woman came on the stage.
Her name is Jane and goes by Nightbirde.
As the judges asked their questions she revealed that she was battling terminal cancer and will be singing an original song.
The room was still and Jane simply shared “ it’s so important that people know, I am so much more than the bad things that have happened to me.”
Just before she sang, Jane took in a big breathe, exhaled and looked around the room...and let go of all fear and judgement.
What happened next was unpredictable...
Her voice was a unique blend between the Cranberries and Sinead O’Connor.
This was a story of her past year that unfolded.
“Its okay if your lost... it’s okay”
As I listened, like many others, her words resonated so powerfully with my last year In different ways.
Tears began to flow as I let the words swim in my thoughts.
The song finished and crowd paused before giving her a standing ovation.
The judges were visibly moved by her lyrics and then Jane eloquently said,
“ You can’t wait until life isn’t hard anymore before you decide to be happy.”
How many of us are doing life hard these days but we are miserable with our lives. Looking only at the hard.
When we could CHOOSE to be happy in the midst of the hard.
Jane later shared in a very calm voice ,
“ I have 2% of survival and 2% is not 0%. 2% is something and I wish people knew how amazing it. “
I think about all the clients that I have had the privilege of walking with, their disease diagnosis, treatments and life journeys.
I have heard remarkable stories, beared witness to incredible souls and in awe of their strength and perseverance.
I encourage you to watch these seven minutes of inspiration.
What would you do with 2% survival rate?
Are you truly living the best version of you?
What if you went for all things you were told you never had a chance at...
WHAT IF WE ALL LIVED IN THAT 2%.
Take a few moments watch Nightbirde....
